How to Make Candles From Recycled Crayons

Number of Crayons Needed:  2 - 3, broken in half

Other Materials Needed:  Candle jars with wide necks, microwavable container, microwave, candle-making soy wax (**BE SURE YOU HAVE NO SOY ALLERGIES**), wicks, stick-um and wooden sticks

Directions:

Some of the materials you will need:

Step 1:  Remove cap off the glass jar.  Put your finger in the stick-um and get enough to place on the bottom of the metal of the candle wick.

Step 2:  Place wick in the center of the bottom of the jar.  Press it down so it stays.  Leave it alone for a few minutes so it can dry.

Step 3:  Put a 1/2 of a cup of the soy wax into a microwavable container.  Also add the four to six pieces of crayon into the container.  Heat the container in the microwave in one minute increments, checking to see when the contents are liquid.  Mix the contents once you remove them from the microwave.

Step 4:  Pour the contents of the container into a jar.

Step 5:  Put two wooden sticks on either side of the wick so it doesn't fall over while the candle is hardening.

Step 6:  After the candle hardens, you can trim the wick so it fits inside the jar with the lid on.
