How to Make Heart Shaped Crayons From Recycled Crayons

Number of Crayons Needed:  Approximately 8

Other Materials Needed:  Heart shaped silicone mold, oven mitts, oven or toaster oven

Directions: 

Step 1:  Preheat your oven to 360 degrees.

Step 2:  Take your crayons and remove the paper label from them.  *You can soak the paper off the crayons in a bowl of water if you do not want to use a knife as shown in the video*

Step 3:  Break the crayons into smaller pieces and place them into the molds.

Step 4:  Put on your oven mitts and place the mold into the oven.  Check on them every two minutes.

Step 5:  Once they are melted, remove them (wearing oven mitts) and add your next layer on (if you want your crayons thicker).  YOU WILL NEED AN ADULT TO HELP YOU WITH THIS.  Be very careful with the hot wax - you do not want to get burned!

Step 6:  You can either leave the mold out to let it cool, or place it in the refrigerator to help it cool faster.

Step 7:  Once the crayons are cooled and solid, you can pop them out of the molds.
